Attention: Home Owners Planning to Hire Home Improvement Contractors
The State of Pennsylvania recently passed the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act (effective July 1, 2009), requiring all home improvement contractors to register with the State Attorney General’s Office. You should be sure that any contractor you hire can provide you with a copy of their certificate or wallet card from the State bearing their registration number. Please be advised that if you hire a home improvement contractor that is not registered with the State under the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act, your remedy under the law if you are not satisfied with their work, may be limited.For more details, visit: www.attorneygeneral.gov
ATTENTION HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTORS!! In 2008, the Pennsylvania Legislature passed the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act. The law requires that all contractors who perform at least $5,000 worth of home improvements per year register with the Attorney General's Office. We have worked to ensure that the registration process is as quick and easy as possible. Registration may be completed online or by mailing an application to our office. We encourage you to complete your registration online, as you will receive your registration number and a printable temporary registration certificate instantaneously. As of July 1, 2009, consumers in Pennsylvania will be able to verify your registration with our office by visiting our website or by calling our toll-free hotline. In the coming months, our office will encourage consumers to use registered contractors when deciding to invest in home improvements. Don't delay - register today!

EXPANDED HOURS FOR DOWNINGTOWN RESIDENTS The Downingtown Borough Code Enforcement Office is proud to announce that we have expanded our hours of operations for the convenience of the public. The new hours will be: Monday and Wednesday 8:30am to 7:00 pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:30am to 4:30 pm With spring time upon us and home projects starting up, we have expanded our hours to make one of our borough inspectors available after normal business hours. The expanded hours should make it easier for residents to schedule required inspections without having to compromise their work schedules. To schedule an evening appointment call during normal day hours of 8:30 – 4:30. To reach the evening inspector call 610 2690344 ext 207, The building is not open to the public during extended hours for security reasons.
