East Lancaster Avenue Roadwork - On Wednesday, August 1, PennDOT will begin the paving project on Business Route 30 from Route 113 eastward to the entrance at Lowe’s in East Caln. This work will take place during the evening/early morning hours (approx. 9:00 pm to 6:00 am) and will continue for approximately two weeks. Expect delays.

Log House Tours - The Historic Commission will be conducting FREE tours of the Log House on Sunday, August 5 from 1pm - 4pm.

Chicken BBQ - The 50th annual Alert Fire Company Chicken BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, August 18, from 4pm - 7pm. The price is $13 and it's eat in or take out! (alertfire.org)

Movie Night in the Park - The Parks & Rec Commission presents Movie Night at Kerr Park on Saturday, August 25. Follow their Facebook page for details! (www.facebook.com/downingtownparksandrec)

Red Cross Blood Drive - An emergency blood shortage is prompting the American Red Cross to issue an urgent call for eligible donors of all blood types – especially type O – to give now and help save lives. The Borough will be hosting a drive on Thursday, August 30, from 2pm - 7pm at the Annex Building. Click here to register and help save lives!

2018 Summer Jam Series - The Summer Jam series wraps up on Friday, August 31. Enjoy live music in the park, plus beer, cider and food trucks! This event is family-friendly and leashed pets are welcome. Bring your blanket or lawn chair and enjoy talented local musicians from 6PM – 10PM. D-Town Brew Down - Does your brew have what it takes to take the top prize? D-Town Brew Down will take place at Kerr Park on October 27. Registration is now open! Click here for all of the details. Proceeds benefit the Downingtown Library.

Chester County's Department of Emergency Services will again offer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)Training beginning Monday, September 10. CERT Basic Training is designed to prepare you to help yourself and to help others in the event of a catastrophic disaster.
