Downingtown Borough residents pay three real estate taxes:

1. Chester County:  Millage 3.804*
   Bills are mailed February 1st.  If you have questions or need additional information, please call (610) 344-6000 and ask for the Treasurer's Office.

2. Downingtown Area School District:   Millage 24.05*
   Mailed July 1st.  If you have questions or need additional information, please call (610) 873-0930, extensions 215 or 216.

3. Downingtown Borough:  Millage 5.8*
   Bills are mailed April 1st.  If you have questions or need additional information, please call (610) 269-0344, extension 206.

Chester County and the Borough are on a calendar year; the school district is on a fiscal year from July 1 to June 30.  All three taxes offer a discount period of 60 days from the date of the mailing, a base amount period of the next 60 days, and a 10% penalty added after 120 days.

Borough bills are only mailed to homeowners.   If taxes are escrowed, it is the homeowners responsibility to forward to their mortgage company.

Downingtown Borough residents and non residents pay a 1% earned income tax and a Local Services Tax of $52.00 per year.  These taxes are collected by Berkheimer Associates,  (610) 363-7214.

All three taxing bodies lien unpaid taxes with the county, which increases the amount considerably.  It is to the homeowners advantage to pay in a timely manner.
