NOTICE OF PROPOSED 2015 BUDGET 

The Borough of Downingtown announces that the proposed budget for 2015 is now available for public review and inspection at Downingtown Borough Hall, 4 West Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or click here to download


PUBLIC NOTICE

            Notice is given that the Borough of Downingtown will hold a public hearing at 7:00 PM on December 3, 2014 at the Downingtown Borough Hall located at 4 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, Pennsylvania to consider the enactment of the following amendment to the Code of the Borough of Downingtown.At the conclusion of the public hearing the Borough of Downingtown and the Mayor will consider enactment and possibly enact the proposed Ordinance. The proposed ordinance is summarized as follows: 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF DOWNINGTOWN, CHESTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, LEVYING A GENERAL PURPOSE REAL ESTATE TAX FOR THE 2015 FISCAL YEAR.
Section 1 sets forth a real estate tax in the amount of 7.65 mills shall be levied and collected for the 2015 fiscal year for general purposes, on the assessed value of all taxable real estate in the Borough.

The proposed ordinance contains an ending clause indicating the date of enactment and signature lines for the Borough of Downingtown Borough Council, Mayor and Borough Manager/Secretary.   

An opportunity will be afforded to all interested persons in attendance to address the Borough of Downingtown in the matter of this ordinance. A full text copy the Ordinance is available for public inspection, and/or copies of the Ordinance can be obtained for a fee, at the Downingtown Borough Hall at the address listed above during regular business hours, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday (except holidays).

The Borough of Downingtown is requesting submission of proposals from qualified law firms/individual attorneys to provide legal services for the year 2015 and, depending upon performance, beyond. 
Background:
The Borough of Downingtown, located in Chester County, is a Borough under the codes of and laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Governed by an elected six-member Borough Council, the Borough’s chief executive officer is the Borough Manager.  The Borough Solicitor is appointed by the Borough Council.

Borough Offices will be closed

 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.


The Borough is once again participating in the Toys for Tots program this holiday season. New, unused and unwrapped toys can be dropped off in the labeled box in the Downingtown Police Department lobby, from 9am - 11pm, Monday through Friday. Deadline is December 15.


VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 

Downingtown Borough is currently seeking applications of those interested in serving on the Downingtown Historic Commission and Parks & Recreation Commission.   

The Historic Commission will meet at least once per month at a designated time and place which shall be fixed and determined by the Commission.   The 5 member commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Borough Council in all matters pertaining to preserving the history and historic architecture of the Downingtown Borough.  (download application

The Parks & Recreation Commission will meet at least once per month at a designated time and place which shall be fixed and determined by the Commission.   The 5 member commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Borough Council in all matters pertaining to an effective and efficient recreation and park system for Downingtown residents.  (download application)
