Residential Parking Program Area (RPPA)
The streets of the Borough of Downingtown were, for the
most part, not built with the intention of allowing parking along the curbside. With
the advent of the vehicles, however, municipalities began to allow the curbside parking
above and beyond those owned be Borough residents, Downingtown implemented the Residential
Parking Program Areas (RPPA). The streets listed below have been designated by the
Borough of Downingtown as RPPA's. Only vehicles owned by residents, their guests,
property owners, business owners, their employees, and other authorized persons are
entitled to receive a permit to park along the designated streets between the hours of
8:00 AM and 12:00 Noon daily, excluding Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays.

The RPPA program is designed to increase the quality of
life in the Borough's older, more crowed neighborhoods; to preserve the safety of children
and other pedestrians; to promote traffic safety and the peace, good order, comfort,
convenience and welfare of the inhabitants of the Borough; and to encourage those agencies
and establishments contributing to increasing traffic to help promote additional parking
facilities. Applications for RPPA permit stickers are available at the
Downingtown Municipal Government Center's Administration Building and are
renewed every 2 years.
