STREET MAINTENANCE WORKER I:   
 
The Public Works Department is recruiting for a Street Maintenance Worker I. This is a full-time union (AFSCME) position. 

 

  • Starting rate is $22.95 with a 6-month probation period. Rate after probation period is $23.87.
  • Applicant must obtain the ability to independently operate all street equipment within the probation period.
  • Work hours are typically 7:00am – 3:00pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Position requires on-call status, occasional weekend and holiday work and must be available for emergencies. 
 
DUTIES: Under supervision of the Director of Public Works, perform duties and responsibilities of Street Maintenance Worker I.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license, and within twelve months from hire possession of a Class B CDL with airbrake and tanker endorsement is required.
  • Requires drug testing and background verification including references and criminal record checks prior to employment.

PLANNING COMMISSION POSITIONS (volunteer):  
The Borough of Downingtown seeks qualified candidates to fill  vacancies (voting and non-voting members) on the Borough Planning Commission.  Term is for a 4 year period. Familiarity with zoning, land use and development issues are helpful, but not required.  Applicants must be Borough residents. Meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  Residents interested in the position may forward a resume and letter of interest to Bob Duncan, codeinspector@downingtown.org 

 ZONING HEARING BOARD (volunteer):  
Zoning Hearing Board Alternate Vacancy:  The Borough is seeking residents that may be interested in volunteering to serve as an alternate on the Zoning Hearing Board. The Board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM (as needed).  Residents interested in the position may forward a resume and letter of interest to  Bob Duncan, codeinspector@downingtown.org    

SHADE TREE COMMISSION (volunteer):  
The Shade Tree Commission is seeking a resident to fulfill a vacancy on the Commission. The Shade Tree Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month, as necessary, at 7:00 p.m. in the Administration Conference Room of the Municipal Government Center.  Residents interested in the position may forward a resume and letter of interest to downingtowntrees@gmail.com

 
SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (volunteer):
