PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Borough Council of the Borough of Downingtown will hold a public hearing to consider approval of amendments to the Borough Comprehensive Plan on August 5, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Downingtown Borough Hall located at 4 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown PA, 19335. The Council will consider the amendments to the Borough Comprehensive Plan and take public comment at the hearing and will decide whether to approve the amendments immediately following the public hearing as part its regular meeting on the same night. The proposed amendments relate to the land use categories in Chapter 3, Future Land Use & Housing Plan Categories and Chapter 5, Economic Development Plan of the Comprehensive Plan. An opportunity will be afforded to all interested persons in attendance to address the Borough of Downingtown in the matter of this ordinance. A full text copy the Comprehensive Plan Amendments are available for public inspection, and/or copies can be obtained for a fee, at the Downingtown Borough Hall at the address listed above during regular business hours, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday (except holidays).

            NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Borough Council of the Borough of Downingtown will hold a public hearing to consider passage of the following ordinance on August 5, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Downingtown Borough Hall located at 4 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown PA, 19335.  The Council will consider the ordinance and take public comment at the hearing and will decide whether to enact and pass the ordinance immediately following the public hearing as part its regular meeting on the same night.  The proposed amendment involves a zoning map change that affects the value of property. The following is the title and a summary of all of the provisions of the proposed ordinance. 

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF DOWNINGTOWN, CHESTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AS AMENDED, CHAPTER 287, ENTITLED “ZONING,” TO ESTABLISH A WOODBINE OVERLAY DISTRICT AND TO ESTABLISH AREA AND BULK STANDARDS FOR THE WOODBINE OVERLAY DISTRICT AND TO ADD A DEFINITION OF “ZERO LOT LINE UNIT”; AMENDING CHAPTER 256, ENTITLED “SUBDIVISION OF LAND” TO ESTABLISH DESIGN GUIDELINES FOR THE WOODBINE OVERLAY DISTRICT; AND AMENDING THE DOWNINGTOWN BOROUGH ZONING MAP TO ESTABLISH THE WOODBINE OVERLAY DISTRICT ON PROPERTY LOCATED ON WOODBINE ROAD. Borough Council Summer Meeting Schedule: June 3, July 1 and August 5. 


STREETSCAPE PROJECT: The Borough of Downingtown, in collaboration with IES Construction and PennDot, are excited to announce that an enhancement project (along E. Lancaster Ave between Lloyd Ave and King Street) will begin in the spring and completion should take approximately 10-12 weeks.  The project will include new street lighting, curbing, parking, landscaping, sidewalks and stormwater improvements.  (click here to view rendering) We do not expect any road closures but you should anticipate traffic delays especially during the peak rush hour periods.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but the outcome of the enhancements will bring an appealing quality to the community.  Should you have any  concerns  or  problems  please  contact  Jack  Law  (ext.  232)  or Kevin Gore (ext. 207) at the Borough.
