PUBLIC NOTICE

Please be advised on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 7:00 P.M., prevailing time, at Downingtown Borough Hall, 4 West Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335, the Downingtown Borough Council will conduct public hearings to consider and act upon the conditional use applications of: 1) 21st Century Cyber Charter School for the property located at 126 Wallace Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335 in the C-3 Zoning District. The Applicant seeks a conditional use under Zoning Ordinance § 287, Article XVIII, “Off-Street Parking and Loading”, Subsection 107.G(1) to provide for fee in lieu of parking for uses in the C-3 Zoning District; 2) St. Joseph Parish/Parish Office for the property located at 334 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335 in the R-4 Zoning District. The Applicant seeks a conditional use under Zoning Ordinance § 287, Article VIII, “Office Use”, Subsection 32.D(2) to provide for professional office uses in the R-4 Zoning District.

Copies of the foregoing applications are available for public inspection at Borough Hall during normal business hours.  If any person who wishes to attend the meeting has a disability and/or requires an auxiliary aid, service or other accommodation to observe or participate in the proceedings, he or she should contact Steve Sullins, Borough Manager, at 610-269-0344, to discuss how those needs may be accommodated.

NOTICE TO BID
BOROUGH OF DOWNINGTOWN
WEST LANCASTER AVENUE STREETSCAPE  PROJECT

Notice is hereby given, the Borough of Downingtown will accept sealed bids online for their West Lancaster Avenue Streetscape Project until January 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., at which time bids received will be publicly opened and read aloud.  Online sealed bids shall be submitted via the PennBid Program.  All documents and solicitation details are available online, without charge, at PennBid www.PennBid.net.

A bid bond in the amount of 10% is required with the bid.  Successful bidder will be required to obtain a 100% performance bond.
A mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on December 30, 2014 at the Municipal Government Center, 4 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335. The Borough reserves the right to (1) reject any or all bids or portions thereof; (2) advertise for new bids; (3) waive technical defects in the bids as is deemed in the best interest of the Borough.

Background:
The Borough of Downingtown, located in Chester County, is a Borough under the codes of and laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Governed by an elected six-member Borough Council, the Borough’s chief executive officer is the Borough Manager.  The Borough Solicitor is appointed by the Borough Council.

Student Designed Bike Rack Competition Begins

Your design could become a reality in Downingtown 

The Student Designed Bike Rack Program is a collaborative effort between the Borough of Downingtown, Downingtown Main Street Association and the Downingtown Area School District Engineering Department to provide bike-friendly racks in the Borough of Downingtown. (read more)

Wagons Ho!

Moving the Downingtown Library

 

The nearly complete new facility for the Downingtown Library will be ready for occupancy by early January 2015.  The Thorndale-Downingtown Rotary Club is planning and coordinating the move from Lancaster Avenue to Wallace Avenue.  The Rotary Club is asking the community to participate by families bringing “little red wagons” to move the boxes of books from the old Library to the new on Saturday January 3rd with a snow date of Saturday January 10th.
