Is a Building or Zoning Permit Required?
 
A building permit is required when performing work to the interior or exterior of a home or non-residential building on a property.
Examples of work requiring building permits to the interior of an existing building include; interior renovations, modifications to or new installation of electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems.
Examples of work requiring building permits to the exterior of an existing building include: new siding, replacement of roof shingles, sheds exceeding 200 square feet, additions, a new porch or new deck.
Examples of work on the exterior of the property requiring a zoning permit includes; new or replacement fencing, a new or replacement shed under 200 square feet, patio or adding pavers, new or replacement condensing units or generator units.
