Snow Emergency Information

Public Safety Officials will make the decision regarding when a snow emergency is declared for the Borough of Downingtown. This notice will be posted on our Facebook page, website and sent out via email/text to individuals that are signed up to receive Borough Snow Emergency alerts through ReadyChesco.

Upon declaration of a snow emergency, all vehicles must be removed from the following snow emergency routes:

  • PA Ave from Manor Ave to Route 113
  • Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue)
  • Route 322 (Manor Ave & Brandywine Ave)
  • Route 113 (West Uwchlan Avenue)
  • Route 282 (Wallace Avenue)
  • Viaduct Avenue
  • Bradford Avenue
  • Chestnut Street
  • West Church Street
  • West Prospect Avenue (West of W. Church St.)
  • South Lloyd Avenue

Other No Parking Streets:

  • 200 Block of William Street
  • 200 Block of Mary Street
  • East Church Street

Designated Parking Areas During a declared snow emergency, alternative off-street parking will be provided to those residents in densely populated areas who would normally utilize curbside parking. The listed lots will be cleared by Borough Public Works. When the snow emergency is lifted, vehicles must be removed from the respective parking lot.

East End Parking

  • Park Lane Municipal Lot (near Kerr Park)
  • Kerr Park Municipal Lot (off Wallace Avenue)
  • Mill Street Municipal Lot
  • Beech Street Lot
  • Marinelli Park (Lincoln Avenue side)
  • East Ward Elementary School
  • E. Lancaster Avenue Municipal Lot

West End Parking

  • St. Anthony's Lodge (lower lot only)
  • Johnsontown Park/Viaduct Avenue Municipal Lot
  • Bradford Avenue Municipal Lot
  • Stuart Avenue Municipal Lot
  • West End Municipal Lot
  • Alert Fire Co. (rear lot off of Stuart Avenue)*

* For residents of the 200 block of Mary Street and 200 Block of William Street only

Please keep children away from the street and Borough equipment during snow removal operations. Tunneling and/or playing near the street is extremely dangerous. Remove small objects from or near the street to avoid private as well as public property damage during snow removal operations. Please remain home unless you must travel so that our snow clearing crews and emergency service personnel can tend to storm related issues and emergencies.
